New Units: The Farmer in the Hat and Pilgrim Children

I have finished two new units!  The first is a unit on Pilgrim Children.  Thanksgiving is one of my favorite times of the year so I wanted to create an engaging activity for firsties.  With the common core it is so important for our firsties to become independent learners and with this unit they can research and find the answers on their own.

For all my first grade teachers that are looking for a little something extra to add to Reading Street I have finished the unit for The Farmer in the Hat.  Woohoo!  I think I have 4 more stories to complete and I will have units for ALL the Reading Street stories.

Envision Math Topic 5 Focus Wall and LIteracy Activities for A Big Fish for Max

Two more units are now complete!!! Yay!!! I finished the Envision Math Topic 5 Focus Wall and the Literacy activities for A Big Fish for Max.   Let me tell you that forming these I can statements for the focus walls has really helped me to see exactly how these topics build on each other.  I know we are all extremely busy but unwrapping standards and writing the I can statements are extremely helpful in understanding what needs to be taught. :0)  Here are the latest two units:

Wowsers,  I have been a busy Instructional Partner this week!!!! One of the highlights this week was teaching reading to some sweet firsties!!!  Loved it!!
